Video Cameras and Ghost hunting:
Up until recently the use of video cameras
for ghost hunting were very limited. Today their uses have been expanded by the addition of Infrared also known as "Nightshot".
In previous years the Video cameras were used to record witness interviews, and monitor only lighted rooms for paranormal
activities.
Video camera use in witness interviews:
When you do witness interviews it is crucial to document these. Set your video camera up so that it captures the
person being interviewed. During an interview it is very easy to hear the answers your witness gives you. But it is very hard
to catch all their facial expressions and body language. Were we would always love to trust everyone claiming to have had
an experience. There are people out there who just want their 15 minutes of fame. So the video you shot of the interview could
lend some crucial insight into your investigation. The first and most important thing will be you will have an audio record
of the answers you were given. Second You will be able to see their facial expressions as they are talking. Such as were they
visibly upset while recounting their story, were they confident in their recollection, Ect... This will all be recorded and
you do not have to rely on your own recollection and memory of the interview. As we all know memories are not always exact
and or accurate. And when you start passing memories from person to person they can really get taken out of context. So Always
record you personal interviews that makes any evidence you find even more credible when your investigation is well documented.
Video camera use in your investigations:
Today with addition of "nightshot" to your video camera. You can use it in the actual investigation of dark rooms.
This increases your chances of catching paranormal activity in a given area, while you can concentrate your efforts in another
area. you can monitor an area continually with out tying up one of your investigators who can not see in the dark anyway.
Some times spirits are not active when there are people around only moving things when a room is empty. Make sure when setting
up your camera that you capture as much of the area as you possibly can. Positioning of the camera is very important in capturing
good credible evidence. If you are focusing on one particular item that seems to be moved all the time. Do not focus the camera
just on that item. Try to capture at least two to three feet around the object so that if you do capture something you can
have a good view that there was no one around and no funny business. this again will make your evidence even more credible
and harder for the critics to tear apart. The video camera has become a very important tool for all ghost hunters from the
novice to the expert. So use it wisely to make any evidence you capture credible.
That is the most important thing . You want any evidence you capture to be credible. And remember when reviewing
your tapes of an investigation. Paranormal activity usually happens fast and with out advanced notice. So watch your videos
from start to finish no fast forwarding or you may just miss that crucial piece of evidence you are looking for. And at times
even do a frame by frame view you may have capture something just like a still shot camera that is to fast to be seen but
is captured in one frame of your video. This I know is time consuming but it may be well worth it in the end if you find that
one piece of evidence that you are looking for. I hope this helps go have fun and happy ghost hunting!
